About Us

Stourport Baptist Church comprises people from many different backgrounds, from age 0 to 80+! Some have lived in the area their whole life, some have been brought here through work. We also have people from different countries of the world. Whatever your circumstances there is probably someone in a similar situation. One thing we all have in common is that we have reached a point in our lives where we have come into relationship with God in the Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Our Beliefs

As disciples of Jesus, we base our teaching and beliefs on the Bible. The Bible teaches that church is not a building made out of bricks and stones, nor a service that you go to, but a body of people who are united by their common experience of Jesus.

Midweek Groups

We meet together as a body on Sunday mornings and evenings to celebrate and to receive relevant teaching from the Bible. At other times of the week we meet in small groups across the area. These groups are aiming to be communities who love God, love one another and love those who don’t know Jesus yet. We encourage being part of a mid-week group as an important part of our Christian growth. The big aim is that we are helping one another grow towards maturity in Christ.

The Church - God's Plan

The Bible tells us that God has a plan for His world. Because He has a plan for His world, God also has a destiny for each person who lives in it. We believe that the Church all over the earth has an important role in that plan.

In order to help the Church fulfil that role, Jesus ". . .gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." (Ephesians Chapter 4 verses 11 to 13). We believe that the church needs all these gifts, operating through different people, as empowered by the Holy Spirit.
